Nestled amid peaceful pastures and magnificent mountains, just beyond the charming downtown of Vermont’s most beautiful village, you’ll find historic Billings Farm.  Today both a working farm and historic site, Billings Farm & Museum offers a rare opportunity to experience daily life on an authentic dairy farm, while exploring the traditions of Vermont’s rural past and pondering your own relationship to the land.

Your visit to Billings Farm brings you into the barn of our award-winning herd of Jerseys, and up-close with our draft horses, oxen, sheep, goats, chickens and pigs. In the 1890 Farm Manager’s House you’ll participate in the domestic routines of farm life a century ago and learn how the management of the Billings estate served as model of sustainable farming and forestry. Extensive exhibitions of Vermont’s farming history explain the routines and rhythms of agrarian life in the 1800s. Take time to stroll the property, enjoy the views, and explore the trails along the Ottauquechee River. And don’t forgot to taste Billings Farm Cheddar in the Museum Shop! After your farm visit, walk across the street to Vermont’s only National Park, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, where you can tour the Billings mansion and hike the trails of Mount Tom. A Place in the Land, an award-winning documentary shown in the Billings Farm Visitor Center, provides a thought-provoking introduction to both destinations and explains the importance of the Billings estate, and the families that have owned it, to the conservation movement in America.
