Event Description: The Mad Marathon and Mad Half courses are designed to enhance the rural and unique setting of the Mad River Valley along with highlighting the exceptional Vermont farmlands. Winding through 26.2 miles of brilliant landscapes with panoramic views of the Green Mountains, the runners are mesmerized by their surroundings and fascinated by the working homesteads, vast acres of summer crops, barnyard animals, curious cows and majestic horses. As a “destination marathon” our race is not only a gorgeous run, but is also fun in an intimate community setting which personalizes every stride of the marathon experience. Runners from all 50 states along with 24 countries have been attracted to the Mad Marathon to enjoy this beautiful place we call home.
