Joy with Hometown Tours & Rides is second to none for rides in Stowe, Vermont! Stowe is an amazing town but it lacks easily accessible transportation around town and to/from airports as services as Uber and Lyft do not service the area.

I've been lucky to find Joy. She is extremely responsive, personable, prompt and professional and always finds a way to make your pick-up happen. She is my go to for airport transportation. She is also an amazing woman entrepreneur and true advocate for small businesses in and around the Stowe and Waterbury region. Give her a call for your next ride!

Unethical pricing and lack of transparency

I had contacted Neil's Wheels for a ride to the airport and was told he would connect me to a driver who would give me a private ride to the airport for $110. (I explicitly asked if there would be a discount if I shared with another person as I was riding solo.)

Joy quoted me $110 for a 1 person ride. A few minutes before picking me up, she told me the ride would be shared. I asked if there would be a discount given that I was told by Neil who connected us that my ride would be private.

Joy then attempted to gaslight me into saying she gave me a below market price by charging me $110 for one seat in a shared ride. That made zero sense bc my ride to Stowe was $120 for a private ride and other companies had quoted me $110 for a private ride.

I then had to spend my remaining vacation time picking up other people and listening to Joy chitchat with the other riders for the entirety of what I thought would be a quiet private ride.

The ethical price per person for a shared ride would be $60-70 as is done in cabs to EWR in NYC that are $125 for a private ride. Really disappointed that Stowe businesses would try to scam tourists like this.

Furthermore, during the ride, a woman called asking if Joy had a car for her mom as the woman had confirmed via text. I saw on the screen that the woman actually had texted Joy back and Joy failed to follow up. Joy hung up on the woman.

Vermont in October has to be one of the hardest places to find a ride. Joy answered the phone as soon as I called, and was able to pick me up in time to get me to my train. We had a great conversation on the way. A totally pleasant experience, at half the rate charged by the cab companies based in Burlington. Would call on her again if in the area.

I booked a ride from Top Notch Resort to Burlington Airport and my credit card was charged twice, once when I booked the ride on September 28 and again when the ride was completed the next day. When AMEX queried the double charge, Hometown claimed there were two rides and refused to agree to refund the overcharge.

This is not an ethical business and other customers should be alerted before suffering the same fate.

We were lucky to find Joy and Hometown Tube Taxi. She met us on time at specified location to lead us to the takeoff spot to raft down Winooski River. Her tubes were great! She placed a sign where we were to exit. We then called Joy. She came to pick up tubes and transported driver back to car. What a great service she provided! Oh yeah.. she even took our photo and texted it after! Thanks Joy! Fun day!

Great service! Delivered us safely and promptly from old stagecoach inn to capital plaza Montpelier. Arranging transportation simple and our driver, Brandy was so friendly and kind. on time for both pickups and a joy to interact with on the ride. Pricing was not outrageous especially considering distance and high price of gas.

Called for pick up from airport and no one ever showed up had to call another company to come get me
