With many years of experience working with children, adolescents and families my interests remain in helping others to see their true potential, develop positive thinking, increase their self-esteem, and develop healthy and pro-active skills to navigate the world.
I am committed to effect change through the process of psychotherapy. My theoretical orientation is consistent with cognitive-behavioral theory and a directive, reality based approach. I believe that social learning, modeling and reinforcement all play a significant role in how ones personality developes, and how one thinks, behaves and feels as they get older. Thoughts often evoke feelings and dictate behavior. I believe that by assisting to refute negative and irrational thinking, this will likely increase positive thinking, ultimately increasing healthy feelings and behaviors that will greatly impact ones overall well-being.
I also believe that unspoken words can pose a barrier to ones happiness. I believe that effective communication is the key to building healthy relationships, rebuilding severed relationships, and strengthening present ones.
I believe that all things are connected. We cross each others paths for a reason. Recognizing how we react and respond to others and the world around us can assist with shifting perspectives to gain insight. Treating the psyche as well as the whole self is imperative to creating the balance needed to lead a more positive & peaceful life.
Understanding and channeling our body's energy can bring about our natural ability to heal our physical & emotional pain.
