The Landmark Trust USA is a nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve historic properties through creative, sustainable uses for public enjoyment and education. We offer these properties as short-term whole-house vacation rentals, allowing guests to experience history on their own time and in their own way.

Located in Vermont and Rhode Island, our six historic properties sleep from 2 to 8 guests. All are fully furnished, with well-equipped kitchens and bed and bath linens, WiFi, and access to activities like tennis, hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. Our properties are ideal for family reunions, romantic getaways, fall foliage trips, and ski weekends.

Stay at Rudyard Kipling’s Naulakha, the 1893 southern Vermont retreat where Kipling wrote The Jungle Book, or at one of our other properties in Dummerston, just north of Brattleboro: Kipling’s Carriage House (1895), the Dutton Farmhouse (1837), and The Sugarhouse (1915).

All of these properties are adjacent to the historic Scott Farm Orchard, which features 130 varieties of ecologically grown heirloom apples in season. The farm was a key location for the movie The Cider House Rules. Visitors can pick their own apples or pick up freshly picked fruit, jams, pies, and cider. Scott Farm offers workshops, events, and a wedding venue. 

Located in Whitingham, Vermont, the Amos Brown House (1802) sits on 30 acres of fields and trails, 30 minutes from Mount Snow. The Amos Brown House and The Sugarhouse both allow dogs.
