Hildene exists to carry the values of Abraham Lincoln to future generations. Everything we do, from education to preservation to sustainable farming to fostering civil civic discourse and constructive civic engagement is driven by our mission of Values into Action.

His father was born in a log cabin and called from the humblest rank in life to preside over our nation during the most momentous period of its history. One generation later, Robert Lincoln, the only child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive to adulthood, became chairman of the Pullman Company, the largest manufacturing corporation at the turn of the 20th century. He and his wife, Mary, built their Georgian Revival mansion in 1905 in the scenic village of Manchester. It became home to only Lincoln descendants until 1975, longer than any other Lincoln residence. It is the Great American Story.

Each year Hildene welcomes thousands of guests to the Lincoln home, restored Pullman car, goat dairy, Dene Farm, grounds and walking trails. All venues on the estate are included in your general admission and can be accessed on foot at your own pace. We offer self-guided tours, scheduled guided tours of the house, accommodations for Motorcoach groups and school groups. You should allow approximately 3 to 6 hours for your visit. Winter trails provide snowshoeing and cross-country skiing access to each of our venues.

Programs and workshops are held throughout the year. Weddings, private functions and corporate events can be accommodated seasonally. Contact us for additional information.
