Food here is pretty good, I ordered the rodeo burger and it was good but didn't have a lot of sauce. Service was very slow even though we were the only ones in the restaurant, however the kind waitress provided us with constant refills. We came in around opening time which is probably why it was so quiet. Overall, pretty good would recommend.

My friend suggested Cody's for lunch and so we decided to check it out. I wanted a soup and possibly 1/2 a sandwich and Cody has both options.

Our server was really nice and helpful. I was torn between the cheddar ale of the day and the clam chowder and she said they were known for their chowder. For my 1/2 sandwich, I asked about the roast beef being rare (my fave) and she felt it would be and I asked for horseradish and she made sure I got it.

My chowder broth was thinner than I expected, but had ample clams and potato. Taste was very good. My friend ordered what looked like the cheesiest (best) FOS (French Onion Soup) and a Grilled Chicken Salad that came with with tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, monterey jack, and cheddar. Both looked great and she relished them.

A really affordable and enjoyable meal in Essex Junction.

I went to college in Philadelphia and enjoyed Philly cheesesteaks often at a few iconic restaurants during the 1960's. I have tried various versions of this sandwich in many restaurants in Chittenden County, including the greater Burlington area, South Burlington, and Essex Junction. in my opinion, Cody's Irish Pub and Grill serves the best version of the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich in the area. I will go a step further and say that their Philly Cheesesteak is my favorite sandwich of any kind that I have ordered as a state resident since I arrived in 1970 and became a Vermonter. And, by the way, Michelle is a terrific server.

Really great food, the shepherds pie was delicious, and my son said the blt was really good. Cajun black and blue burger was great. Laid back atmosphere, staff were fun and attentive. Would go back!

Love this place! Totally going to make this a new regular lunch spot! The guy that was working there was doing everything, running, hosting, serving, and bartending and it was pretty busy but we were still in and out in less than an hour and got a whole booth for just the two of us! Started with the mozz sticks which were the best I'd ever had, sooo cheezy it was melting out, amazing. I got the chicken tenders and fries which were great and you can tell it was high quality chicken and not just a frozen nugget and my friend got the mushroom burger with onion rings which she said was amazing. I usually hate onion rings but when I tried one of hers it was so good!!! The waiter was so nice and made sure to refill our drinks and check on us and was so nice even when he had a million things to do. Definitely a great experience and would 100% go again!!

I was craving a chicken cheesesteak in the Burlington area and this place had them. This is my first time eating here and I'm pretty disappointed. This is a really bland, unseasoned sandwich. The green peppers jump out as the strongest flavor on the sandwich. The peppers and onions are bordering on soggy, seem over cooked. Looks like the chicken was peppered, but it tastes like nothing. The fries were salted, and not burnt or soggy. At least everything was cooked (except for one raw fry.) Ate half of one of the sandwiches in the box and just couldn't eat the rest.

We often order take-out from Cody''s and apart from a few minor mishaps we are always pleased. I always order the Reuben sandwich, and last weekend was the same. To my extreme delight the corned beef was house cooked, I believe, as the slices were thick and delicious. There was a healthy serving of sauerkraut too! It was heavenly. Their house made French fries are always delicious. They are my go-to for Reuben sandwiches! The rest of the family had a caesar salad, fish and chips, and burgers, and no one was disappointed. Their salads are always fresh.

      Burger Review

I will go out of my way for a good burger. I was sitting in the parking lot next to Cody's, waiting for my dogs to finish being groomed at "Sit Pretty Grooming" (another five star, but that's not why you're here), and I wanted a burger. Bad.

Cody's was open and it was about lunchtime on a Saturday. The wait for a call-in was going to be about a half-hour, but since we were already in the parking lot, they expedited the order (sorry to anyone who got bumped out of the way... but not TOO sorry, if you know what I mean).

I ordered a cajun blue cheese bacon burger, light on the cajun, cooked medium, and OMG. I'm typing here drooling like a mastiff who just left the water dish. It came out HOT and PINK and JUICY and PERFECT and I want one RIGHT NOW. The bun was soft and perky and everything was just right... the fries were too hot to eat right away - they were shoe-string-ish and tender, and good grief, if I don't get another one of these burgers TODAY, I'm gonna cry.

The cost for this delightful burger was thirteen bucks. I'm not usually a thirteen bucks for a burger kind of person, but I'm gonna tell you... do it. Bring me one, too.

My cheese steak was good but my wife got chicken tenders and fries and she felt the chicken was old and not fresh and went into the compost bin.
