As Vermont's home for professional contemporary theatre, Vermont Stage provides a unique contribution to the life of our state. We produce high-quality, socially conscious, new plays (and the occasional musical) to amplify the work of leading local and national theatre artists, celebrate diverse voices and perspectives, and fuel topical conversations while adhering to our mission "to create theatre that makes our community a better place.” Vermont Stage's mission rests on the premise that theater is so much more than entertainment. We believe
theater’s purpose, and the reason why some of us feel compelled to go again and again is to feed our insatiable desire to understand why we exist and how we might live. Just as food and water sustain our bodies, storytelling is intrinsic to our emotional well-being. When meeting its full potential, the experience Vermont Stage offers has the power to heal invisible wounds, broaden our understanding of ourselves, and deepen our connections to each other.

Vermont Stage’s 29th Season is one of our most electric and accessible ever. This season's slate features a wide-ranging blend of a Pulitzer prize-winning classic, an astute historical fiction, a world premiere play by a rising Vermont playwright, and a musical by Jonathan Larson, the composer of "Rent." On top of the spectacular lineup, we are also restructuring our ticket model to advocate for inclusivity to destigmatize economic barriers and allow any Vermonter the opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre. Tickets begin at $24.00.
