Event Description: ENTREPRENEURSHIP The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont (GIV) July 7th – 12th, 2014 - Open to Vermont 9-11th graders Vermont Tech - Randolph, Vermont Vermont youth asked for it! Now it’s here! Students -- Bring your ideas, your passion or your curiosity about business to this innovative and exciting weeklong residential intensive, and you’ll have the guidance of proven entrepreneurs and experts plus a network of peers to propel you forward in owning your own business. With students from all over Vermont, you’ll: • Hone your creativity to spark and develop profitable ideas • Learn to analyze and position ideas for success • Examine your own strengths and learn to develop a winning team of business partners • Acquire financial management, operational and marketing insights to enable you to launch and grow your own business • Delve into ethics, sustainability and being socially responsible and decide what aspects are important to you in running your business • Work with professional mentors and fellow entrepreneurial spirits to bring a conceptual product to fruition. What Is GIV? "The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont creates prestigious, fun, accelerated learning residencies on college campuses for highly-motivated Vermont teenagers. There are Governor’s Institutes focused on Arts, Engineering, Information Technology, Environmental Science and Technology, Mathematics, Asian Cultures, and Current Issues and Youth Activism – plus in 2014, a Special Interdisciplinary Institute on Farms, Food and Your Future, and a new Entrepreneurship Institute both at Vermont Tech. Any talented Vermont student can ask his/her school guidance counselor for referral to a Governor’s Institute for an unforgettable experience of extreme learning and extreme fun.
